  1. Ron Husdon:

They have a very misleading warranty.

I bought a brand new, never used, never assembled XTerra FS5.8e elliptical on E Bay over the weekend (their top of the line product). When I assembled it, the monitor it did not work. I had the original warranty card and owners manual. So I called XTerra and I was told that their warranty does not apply when you buy their ellipticals on the Internet or receive them as a gift. So they provide zero warranty even though it is a brand new product (so the description of the warranty in this article, which I reviewed before I bought the product is not accurate). Of course, they were kind enough to say that the monitor was clearly defective and I could buy a new one from them for $300.

When you look at their warranty it does say on page 25 of the fine print in the owners manual that the warranty does not apply to: “products that have been sold, transferred, bartered, or given to a third party”. Of course this literally means that there never will be any warranty for anybody since how do you ever obtain their product if you don’t buy it or receive it as a gift. (If you don’t believe this is true check it out at their website: https://www.xterrafitness.com/xterra-fitness/servicedocuments/pdfs/02_Ellipticals/003_OwnersManuals/FS58e_OM_20130610.pdf)

Of course, nobody reads the fine print of the warranty. They just look at the company’s misleading ads and your summary. So buyer beware.

This is a bad company to deal with. They obviously don’t want to stand behind their products and have obviously set up a “gotcha”.

    Ron
