Smith Machines



Smith Machine is a very important piece of fitness equipment required in a complete gym. Exercise on a Smith Machine generally involves back, shoulder and calf muscles. Basically it is used for variation of squats. A Smith machine often includes a weight rack in the base to help stabilise it. Some Smith machines have the barbell counterbalanced.

Exercises using a Smith Machine

Back Exercise– For training your back muscles smith machine can be used. It helps to broaden, tone your back muscles. Can be performed either sitting a tool or in the standing posture, with bar behind the neck. Be careful while performing the exercise.

Shoulder Exercise– Similarly as the back exercise, this exercise can also be performed sitting on a tool or in the standing posture. Now you bar should be taken in front of your face for 3 sets and then behind your neck for another 3 sets. Use gloves for a better grip.

Squats– Different variation of sqauts can be performed using a smith machine and is much safer than using an ordinary bar. Besides it offers much accurate workout.

Calf Muscle Exercise– This is one of the main use of a smith machine in a gym. Calf muscle exercises are often tough to perform, so smith machine makes it little easier and safer. It is generally performed by standing with the help of foot tips, holding the bar behind the neck. This exercise is very useful and is risk free due to the extensible stand for keeping the bar.
